Afternoon Tea

 There are few things I love more than the ritual of afternoon tea.

For me, it has never been simply about the tea itself. It is about taking a little time, setting something beautiful before you, and creating a moment that feels special — whether you are sharing it with someone you love or enjoying a quiet cup on your own.

For this Style with Linda – Afternoon Tea edit, I wanted to bring together some of the elements that, for me, make the experience complete: beautiful china, fine loose-leaf tea, a few elegant treats, and, of course, a little something lovely to wear.

At the heart of the table is the Wedgwood Sterling tea set, from my personal collection. Its crisp white bone china and platinum detailing have a timeless elegance that I have always loved. It is beautiful without being overly ornate and reminds me that sometimes the simplest table can also be the most sophisticated.

I paired it with a rose-patterned cup and saucer, because I have always believed that china does not necessarily have to match perfectly to belong together. Mixing treasured pieces can give a tea table personality and make it feel collected rather than simply coordinated.

Then there is the tea itself.

A beautiful pot of fine loose-leaf tea, properly steeped and poured into a favourite cup, is one of life’s simplest pleasures. Add a few tea sandwiches, a scone or something sweet, and suddenly an ordinary afternoon becomes an occasion.

And because this is Style with Linda, we cannot forget what we are wearing.

I chose a beautiful pearl statement necklace for this edit. Pearls and afternoon tea seem to belong together somehow — classic and feminine, yet always elegant. A special accessory can transform even a simple outfit and make you feel as though you have dressed for the moment.

But perhaps that is what I love most about afternoon tea.

It gives us permission to make a moment of it.

Use the beautiful china.

Brew the good tea.

Wear the pearls.

Set out something delicious.

And sit down long enough to truly enjoy it.

You don’t need a special occasion to create something beautiful.

Sometimes, creating the moment is the occasion.
